Duncan is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 30-years experience working in both adult and youth mental health settings. He is the developer of the Goal Based Outcomes (GBO) tool (www.goals-in-therapy.com). The GBO is used extensively across youth and adult mental health service in the UK and internationally, and translated into 12 languages. He is widely published on the topic of working with goals, co-writing and editing: Cooper & Law (2018) ‘Working with goals in psychotherapy and counselling’ Oxford University Press (www.academic.oup.com/book/1295).
He is Visiting Professor in the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology, University College London (UCL) (www.ucl.ac.uk/pals/ucl-division-psychology-and-language-sciences), Director of MindMonkey Associates (www.MindMonkeyAssociates.com) and Consultant with Changing Minds UK (www.ChangingMindsUK.com). Formerly, he was Joint-Programme Director ‘Leading Transformation and Change’ at the Anna Freud Centre (www.annafreud.org), and a non-executive director of Child Outcomes Research Consortium (CORC) (www.corc.uk.net).
He has extensive global experience in applied research, clinical practice, and consultation. Above all his focus is on the effective application of complex psychological ideas in ways that make then accessible and acceptable, to enrich and enhance lives.
